Great Torrington Bluecoat Primary School is seeking a friendly, organised, and efficient Clerical Assistant to join our busy school office. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the smooth running of the school’s administrative functions, ensuring a welcoming and professional service to pupils, parents, staff, and visitors.
Main Responsibilities
Provide general administrative and clerical support, including word processing, filing, photocopying, and handling correspondence.
Maintain accurate school records and databases, including attendance and pupil information systems.
Deal with telephone and face-to-face enquiries in a courteous and helpful manner.
Assist with the organisation of school events, trips, and meetings.
Handle incoming and outgoing post and deliveries.
Support other members of the administrative team as required.
We are looking for someone who:
Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Is well-organised and able to manage multiple tasks.
Has good IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Office and database systems.
Works well both independently and as part of a team.
Has a positive and flexible attitude, with a commitment to providing high-quality service.
Previous experience in a school office or similar environment would be an advantage, but training will be provided for the right candidate.

These temporary roles offer a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children with additional needs, working within a supportive and inclusive school community.
About the role:
Our Resource Base provides targeted support for children with a range of special educational needs. We are looking for individuals who can foster positive relationships, provide personalised learning support and help create a nurturing environment where every child can thrive.
Duties may include:
Supporting children with their learning, communication and personal development
Working closely with the class teacher and SEND team to deliver individualised programmes
Promoting positive behaviour and self-regulation using relational and restorative strategies
Supporting inclusion in mainstream activities where appropriate
We are looking for someone who:
Has experience or a strong interest in working with children with SEND
Is flexible, calm and patient in approach
Works well in a team and builds positive relationships with pupils and staff
Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
This is a temporary post to support short-term needs within the provision. There may be opportunities to extend for the right candidate, depending on future needs.
