Being a Musician at Bluecoat...
Music education should be fun and engaging for all. Music plays a role in every aspect of our lives, wherever and whoever we are.

Intent
At Great Torrington Bluecoat C of E Primary School, our music curriculum aims to provide all students with engaging and inspiring music lessons that help them to develop a life-long love of music. We strive to ensure that children have opportunities to create, perform and evaluate a range of different musical genres.
Implementation
Through regular music teaching, children are able to develop their creativity, self-confidence, imagination and self expression. We use Charanga to help develop our music lessons alongside whole class instrumental lessons. We have an established school choir which has performed alongside a number of other schools from across the county and group and individual instrument lessons which are taught by a visiting music teacher.
Impact
We hold weekly singing assemblies and daily worship in which music is always a key part, to help the children prepare for the different church services throughout the year including; Christingle, Easter and the End of Year service. The children are able to connect with the local community through their singing and through other local events such as Mayfair.
